Penny For My Thoughts (6.15.25)
I recently awoke with the song God Is Good playing on repeat in my mind. (This is a common occurrence for me, which I refer to as Worship Music Therapy.) These songs feel like heavenly telepathy, as though angels are sending me divine messages to soothe, heal or guide me through everyday stressors. They encourage me when I am overwhelmed by anxiety and concern for myself and others. They offer me much-needed wisdom and direction.
I personally find mornings to be the best time to connect with nature and the divine. So, if you’re weathering difficult times, start your day by checking out my Juneteenth Playlist. Each song are contemporary rifts like Lift Every Voice, Stand up, Golden Kingdom and God is Good, you’re sure to find your Worship Music Therapy to get you through. Tune into a few lyrics to God is Good as shown below…
“May Your Struggle Keep You Near the Cross.
May Your Troubles Show that You Need God.
May your Battles End the Way They Should.
May Your Bad Days Prove that God Is Good.
May Your Whole Life Prove that God is Good.”
What Does it Mean?
Is there a line that deeply resonates with you? “May your battles end the way they should” hits me the hardest. That is my prayer for myself and others as we navigate very difficult times. Assuredly, with the extreme political right controlling the White House, some communities are hit harder than others. As OMB Director Russ Vought said: “We want to put them in trauma.” WOW…how very “Jesus” of you, Russ (she says sarcastically).
But let us continue to walk in Faith that God will give us the strategic wisdom, effective resources and a community of allies to overcome the battle. As a former chaplain and spiritual leader, I know this to be true: BE READY TO PIVOT. Whether or not things end the way you want, they will most definitely “end the way they should” because God is still with you. Let that be your mantra today.
